The PolyU Desktop Management System (PUDMS) is a platform that automates the submission and reporting of software inventory running on PolyU domain joined workstation and notebooks. It is designed to help users and department administrators manage software licenses and compliance required.
Staff are responsible for software installed and used on their office desktop/ laptop computers. It is vital to ensure that only properly licensed software is installed and used on office devices.
The software information collected by PUDMS can be classified into:
- campus licensed,
- freeware,
- shareware,
- patch and drivers,
- personal licensed software
PUDMS provides an overview to departmental administrators and Heads of Departments/ Offices on software licenses used in the department. From time to time, staff should review and make sure that their software profile, hardware configuration, and machine configuration in PUDMS is up to date and accurate. Staff should also retain any required supporting evidence or license for software classified as personal licensed software in case of potential request from software supplier.
More details on software asset management can be found at PUDMS website.
