Establish AI Virtual Assistants on academic department website to answer student enquires

The previous version of Virtual Assistants relied on rules-based algorithms and involved much one-time and on-going effort to build the question and response lists.

With Large Language Model and Retrieval-Augmented Generation technology, academic departments can now establish a 7 x 24 AI Virtual Assistant with much less of required one-time and on-going effort.

 

The information required to train the AI Virtual Assistants will be sourced directly from the academic department's website on EWCMS platform via an intelligent content gathering agent developed by ITS. Academic departments that publish academic programs, study administration procedures, as well as student need-to-know information to their websites and keep the content current will enable the respective AI Virtual Assistants to respond to student inquiries straightly follow department website currently published content.

 

ITS will be reaching out to various departments to discuss AI Virtual Assistants deployment. We are committed to working closely with all academic departments to leverage AI Virtual Assistants with the goal to drive administrative efficiency and improving student experience.
