Over the past 20 years, the CTE has been making vast effort to be excellent in research and fruitful achievements can be recognized from the following:
- funds and grants from different governmental agencies
- consultancy projects from industry
- SCI journal publications
- patents granted in clean energy and thermal systems
- research graduates
- research students under supervision
The CTE has been established to create and develop a critical mass dedicated to both fundamental and applied research of clean energy and thermal science. The specific objectives of CTE include, but not limited to,
- To acquire funding to support research activities in dealing with energy-related problems. A major emphasis will be on the outputs and impacts of these activities including application of created knowledge to help the industry and community, publication of quality papers, and training of research students in the relevant areas.
- To provide professional services to the Government/industry/community in solving problems related to clean energy and thermal science, through carrying out consulting projects, arrangement of technical workshops and seminars, and development of engineering and scientific devices/systems/strategies.
- To underpin graduate/undergraduate teachings with knowledge created from research and development works. Efforts will be made to improve and develop the academic program curriculum in the design of environmental-friendly energy systems. Efforts will also be made to provide graduate/undergraduate final year projects in the relevant areas.
Members of the CTE maintain strong and close collaboration in research and academic activities with other departments of PolyU, as well as other universities and institutions, both local and overseas.
