Nature-Inspired Engineering Laboratory
Over billions years’ of evolution, many biological systems have orchestrated a variety of principles to process and manage information, materials and energy, especially by taking advantage of surface and interface. The Nature-Inspired Engineering Laboratory (NIE, 仿生工程實驗室) aims to seek, unravel and conceptualize of the power of the evolved mechanisms and then translate the learned understandings to design nature-inspired surfaces that dynamically change their interfacial and transport properties, such as wetting, adhesion, thermal-fluid transport for water-energy nexus and biomedical applications.
NIE Lab provides a platform encompassing Mechanism understanding, Multiscale modelling, Manufacturing, and Multifunctionality (M4) for developing nature-inspired surfaces that can address significant challenges in water, energy, environment, and healthcare.
