Japan WIE 2025

 

Japan is one of the most diverse countries in the world. Its temples, castles, and stunning nature are amazing to behold. As a hub for commerce, finance, engineering, communications, and innovation, job opportunities are spanning in a wide range of career fields from engineering, research, IT to media and design, and many more. In recent years, Japan has been attracting an increasing number of individuals who are interested in working abroad, providing you with a chance to become part of a cosmopolitan workforce in a vibrant and global metropolis.

Tokyo and Nagoya

Duration:

Summer WIE starting from June 2025; from 6 to 8 weeks

Compensation:

Mostly unpaid; internships with allowance are specified in job details

 

Application Deadline: 30 November 2024

(Selection process will be conducted on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to make applications before the deadline.)

Eligibility:

  • Year 2 or above, full-time students of UGC-funded undergraduate degree programmes  
  • Aged 18 or above with valid travel document
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills
  • Highly independent, proactive, and culturally sensitive

*Japanese language proficiency is required.

Itinerary Planning: 
Students are required to arrange for the following at their own responsibilities and should inform GEO of the details prior to departure and/or internship commencement.

  • Request for WIE endorsement and apply for OWS (if applicable)
  • Visa application (NOT applicable to virtual internship)
  • Round trip air ticket (NOT applicable to virtual internship)
  • Accommodation (NOT applicable to virtual internship)

 

Financial Assistance from GEO:

A. Offshore WIE Sponsorship (OWS):

  • Year 2 or above, full-time students of UGC-funded undergraduate degree programmes 
  • WIE endorsement from the academic department will be required

B. Hardship Allowance:

  • Students with proven financial difficulties can apply for a Hardship Allowance to support expenses incurred in offshore WIE.

C. Learning Incentive

  • Students will receive a cash incentive (HK$2,300) for their efforts in maximising the WIE learning opportunities.
