New York is the world’s capital of finance, home to more than a hundred different banks from various countries. Tourism, real estate, media, and green industries are also major players in the city's diverse economy. Students will therefore have the opportunity to gain vital work experience and industry exposure on a global level.

Eligibility:

  • Year 2 or above, full-time students of UGC-funded undergraduate degree programmes 
  • Aged 18 or above with valid travel document
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills
  • Highly independent, proactive, and culturally sensitive

Job Details:

The Intern Group

After being nominated to our partnering organisation (The Intern Group) and accepted into the Programme, candidates will be recommended to suitable companies based on your WIE requirements, skills and experiences. Below is a list of sample business sectors and job natures (non-exhaustive). Offer will be subject to employers’ discretion.

Duration:                 7 June 2025 – 2 Aug 2025 (8 weeks); OR

                                 21 June 2025 – 16 Aug 2025 (8 weeks)                  

Programme fee:     USD 8,000 (approx. HKD 63,000) (shared room) / USD 10,100 (approx. HKD 79,000) (Private Room)

                            *Remark: HK students receiving the Tertiary Student Finance Scheme (TSFS) or Financial Assistance                                                                                       Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) are eligible to receive the equivalent of a further USD 500 off their programme fees.

Inclusive items:  Accommodation (shared bedroom), airport pick-up, welcome and orientation sessions, 4-5 cultural immersion activities, and a                                        welcome pack including a local mobile phone/SIM card

General Application and Selection Procedures:

Itinerary Planning: 
Students are required to arrange for the following at their own responsibilities and should inform GEO of the details prior to departure and/or internship commencement.

  • Request for WIE endorsement and apply for OWS (if applicable)
  • Visa application (NOT applicable to virtual internship)
  • Round trip air ticket (NOT applicable to virtual internship)
  • Accommodation (NOT applicable to virtual internship)

 

Financial assistance from GEO:
A. Offshore WIE Sponsorship (OWS) (NOT applicable for virtual internship):

  • Year 2 or above, full-time students of UGC-funded undergraduate degree programmes 
  • WIE endorsement from academic department will be required

B. Hardship Allowance (NOT applicable for virtual internship):

  • Students with proven financial difficulties can apply for a Hardship Allowance in support of expenses to be incurred in Mainland or International WIE.

C. Learning Incentive

  • Students will receive a cash incentive (HK$2,300) for their efforts in maximising the WIE learning opportunities.
