In 2016, the University launched the Service-Learning Student Network, which encourages students to continue their community engagement and start their own service projects. Through generous donations, in 2017/18, projects in the  Chinese mainland, Vietnam and Cambodia were successfully implemented by five offshore self-initiated project teams, involving 172 students.

One such project, Technology for Development (Tech4D), was set up in 2016 by a group of passionate students who were inspired by their service trip. The team has since served the inhabitants of rural villages in Cambodia with the objective of alleviating poverty and enhancing the quality of life through technology and engineering.
