The Kuok Group
The Kuok Group started more than 70 years ago in Malaysia and is today a multinational group with businesses and investments across numerous sectors including properties, hospitality, agribusiness, logistics, digital infrastructure and maritime.
Since its inception, the Kuok Group, together with its various charitable foundations, has provided grants and donations for educational and medical causes, as well as for general charitable purposes.
With its donation to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Kuok Group hopes to offer more opportunities for students and help nurture the next generation.

Professor Wang Zuankai
Professor Wang Zuankai is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as the Associate Vice President (Research & Innovation) and Chair Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of PolyU. Before joining PolyU, he was the Chair Professor and the Associate Dean in the College of Engineering (2019-2022) at The City University of Hong Kong.
Recognised as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate (2022, 2023), Professor Wang’s groundbreaking work has garnered international acclaim. His innovative contributions have been acknowledged by the Guinness World Records, and won Gold Medal with Congratulations of Jury and Gold Medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. His other awards include the Falling Walls Science Breakthroughs of the Year 2023 (Engineering and Technology), Croucher Senior RGC Senior Research Fellowship, RGC Senior Research Fellowship, BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize, Green Tech Award, Xplorer Prize, 35th World Cultural Council Special Recognition Award, Outstanding Youth Award conferred by International Society of Bionic Engineering (ISBE), Chinese Government Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad Award, and Materials Research Society Graduate Student Silver Award, just to name a few.
As an influential figure in his field, Professor Wang serves as the Executive Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Droplet (Wiley). He is also a Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, Royal Society of Chemistry, and ISBE.
Professor Wang received his BS degree from Jilin University, MS degree from Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and PhD degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After completing a one-year postdoctoral training programme at Columbia University, he joined CityU in September 2009, marking the beginning of his impactful career in academia and research.
