More than 200 business elites, community leaders, as well as alumni and friends of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) participated in the “PolyU • Goldlion Invitational Golf Tournament” on 25 January 2019 at Mission Hills Golf Club, Dongguan. With the generous support of the Goldlion Holdings Limited - Corporate celebrating its Jubilee Anniversary as Title Sponsor of the activity and other sponsors, the tournament raised over HK$3 million, which set a new record to the University. Proceeds of the tournament will be used to support development of the University and its students' holistic development.
Officiating guests of the Kick-off ceremony included Prof. Philip C.H. Chan, PolyU Interim President; Mr Ricky Tsang, Chairman of the Tournament’s Organizing Committee (OC) and Chairman of Goldlion Holdings Limited; Ir Dr K.K. Wong, Executive Chairman and Honorary Chairman of the OC; four other Honorary Chairmen of the OC, namely Dr Dennis Ng, Mr Y.F. Lee, Mr Bob Chong and Mr Peter Lau; two Honorary Chairmen, Mr Patrick Luk and Dr Edward Chan; as well as Mr Richard Sun, Governing Committee member of the PolyU Foundation.14 prizes of the tournament included team awards (Honorary Chairman Cup and Supreme Cup) and individual awards (Best Gross Score, Best Net Score, Alumni Cup, etc) were presented at the Award Presentation cum Dinner held in the evening.
During the dinner, Dr Miranda Lou, PolyU Executive Vice President thanked and presented Certificate of Appreciation to members of the Organizing Committee and sponsors for their invaluable contribution. She also thanked the friends of PolyU, sponsors and golfers for their ardent support.
Overwhelmed by the joyous atmosphere, guests with awards enjoyed the fun and applause. Additional meaning was added to this memorable evening when extra donation was made by guests that has proven their endorsement to PolyU’s education philosophy.
