Summary

Urban Farming Programme - Winter 2025 is open for registration now. In this programme, you can acquire knowledge on organic farming and hands-on experience working at your planter boxes through a series of workshops. It gives full experience of growing your own vegetables and connecting with nature on campus. 👩‍🌾 What's more, by joining the programme, you can earn up to 60 GreenCoins to use with the PolyU GreenCoin app!

In this phase, we will have a sharing session in addition to the farming and workshops. You can register either or both of the activities.

 

Sharing Session

Topic:  Harvesting Amid Climate Extremes: Adapting Urban Farming Practices for Resilience

About the sharing session:

In recent years, extreme weather has become increasingly frequent and severe, highlighting the urgent need to address climate change. This seminar will explore the connection between greenhouse gas emissions, the impact on our environment in particular urban agriculture. We will also share the challenges faced by local farms in adapting to these changes. Join us as we delve into the realities of climate change and how we can take action to build a more resilient future for our planet.

VA farm | 1 pm to 2 pm |  11 & 25 Feb, 11 & 25 Mar, 8 Apr (Tue)

Y6 farm | 1 pm to 2 pm |  13 & 27 Feb, 13 & 27 Mar, 10 Apr (Thu)

Quota:  32 teams for each farm

Each team can have up to two members sharing one planter.

(Priority will be given to the teams who have attended the sharing session.)

What to grow:

Lettuce 生菜、Indian lettuce油麥菜、Cucumber青瓜

Fee:  Free of charge*

*Subject to fulfilment of the attendance requirement - attended four workshops including the first workshop. The organiser reserves the rights to charge the workshop fee ($400 or 800 GreenCoins), if participants cannot fulfil the attendance requirement.

Please note that the urban farming workshop is primarily for acquiring farming skills, and participants may need to dedicate additional time outside of the workshop for plant care.

 

🟢 By fulfiling the attendance requirement and completing the feedback form, participants are able to earn 50 GreenCoins!

Reminder for Team Registration:

  • Please fill out one single form with the contact information of both teammates.
  • For attendance, either one of the team members attending the workshop will be counted, but we highly recommend that both attend every workshop if possible.

 

Notification of Successful Registration:

We will be sending confirmation emails to all successful registrants.

For a team of two members, only the contact person (the one who filled out the registration form) will receive the confirmation email. Please reply to the confirmation email on behalf of the entire team.
