For the first time running and hosted by the Campus Sustainability Office and Information Technology Services Office, the WEEE-CYCLING campaign took place from 23 to 28 November 2017. It aimed to invite the University community to reflect on their household habits and consumption patterns, and ask them to dispose of the electrical appliances that they no longer need in a responsible manner.
The campaign kicked off with a lunch seminar attended by over 60 staff and students. Representative from ITS shared tips on how to keep our data and information intact and secure before we decide to dispose of the various mobile and computing equipment. Speaker from the ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (HK) Limited then explained in details how our usage affects the longevity of our household appliances. A special collection counter was set up on 27 and 28 November, which received over 220 pieces of electrical appliances and computing equipment. These appliances were further examined by ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (HK) Limited and refurbished for a donation if applicable.
