World Wildlife Day (3 March)

Wild animals and plants, in their many varied and beautiful forms, are the necessary component of the world’s biodiversity which has the greatest resonance with us. Since 2013, people all over the world hold different kinds of events to celebrate World Wildlife Day on every 3 March.

Why is it so important?

World Wildlife Day reminds us that our Earth is home to countless species of animals and plants. They are the vivid evidence to make life possible on our planet. Sadly, unsustainable human activities such as mining, farming, construction, and over-exploitation of the species and natural resources that make up the habitats and ecosystems of all wildlife are threatening the world’s biodiversity. We are putting them at risk, and their disappearance will put us, humans, in danger as well.

What should we do?

We need to live more sustainable lives and to learn to respect nature and defend its diversity. We need to keep in mind and act to conserve and protect the natural habitats of all the species that are in danger of becoming extinct. We should also investigate ways to fight against wildlife crime.
