Scalable All-Textile Energy Harvesters for Electric Power Generation
This winning project won the Gold Medal with Congratulations of Jury at the expo. Invented by Dr Xu Bin-gang, this textile energy harvester captures mechanical energy which is broadly wasted in the environment and converts it into electricity. This energy harvester can be economically fabricated with commercial textile machines and can be broadly used as wearable power sources and applied in portable and wearable devices.
eNightLog – Nighttime Monitoring System for Caring for Elderly People with Dementia
Invented by Ir Prof. Zheng Yong-ping, this invention received the Gold Medal at the expo. Targeting an ageing population, eNightLog can gather data on vital signs, sleep quality, falls and behavioral problems as it tracks nighttime events. The system has numerous applications for caregivers, helping them to monitor and care for elderly people and dementia patients.
The State Technological Innovation Award 2017
On 8 January 2018, Prof. Poon Chi-sun’s research on turning waste into eco-friendly construction materials was awarded the Second Class Prize at the State Technological Innovation Awards.
