China-Japan-Korea SERVE 2018 Video
The video of China-Japan-Korea SERVE 2018 features the programme at Sichuan, Mainland China last year. The programme brings 59 students from seven universities to cooperate with elderlies in rural Sichuan to understand the needs of local residents and serve the local community together. The universities include The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Sichuan University, Sichuan Agricultural University, Peking University (Mainland China), Kyoto University (Japan), Yonsei University and Ewha Womans University (South Korea).
Before serving in the villages at rural Sichuan, the students learnt about active ageing, placing-making and co-creation, they also visited the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial Museum, and the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction. At the villages, the students co-created a shared courtyard that symbolized “Harmony and Cross-cultural friendship” and a Japan style Shishi-odoshi in the garden with the residents at Miaoxia, cross-generational music and “Bamboo weaving” with the elderly at Hungcao, and recorded the tradition and history of Chinese Tea Art at Hekan. The programme concluded with embracing cross-cultural friendship and harmony with the elderly and across nationalities.
