Dr Thomas Bauer attended the 5th Silk Road Mayors Forum on 19-21 May 2010 hosted by the Municipality of Shiraz and the Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization in Shiraz, Iran. He gave a plenary presentation on "Cooperation and Collaboration for a Sustainable Future of Traditions and Knowledge along the Silk Road".

Professor Cathy Hsu and Dr Kam Hung attended the 2010 Travel and Tourism Research Association Annual Conference held in Texas, USA, on 20-22 June 2010. Professor Song received the John Wiley & Sons Lifetime Research Achievement Award recognising his invaluable contributions to outstanding scholarship and research in hospitality and tourism. Dr Weber presented two papers entitled "Consumer Responses to Service Recovery Strategies in a Strategic Alliance Setting" and "Career Anchors of Convention and Exhibition Industry Professionals in Asia".
