ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

A group of five SHTM final year students from the BSc(Hons) programme, Ms Sylvia Qi Ling, Ms Sharon Chu Shuk-ting, Ms Zoey Han Xiao, Mr Daniel Liu Xue-meng and Mr Vincent Wu Wen-bo, were crowned champions at the Young Hoteliers Summit Asia in Beijing on 23-25 October 2011. They were invited to work on a revenue management challenge proposed by a hospitality company, followed by a presentation on the final day.

Ms Daisy Lam, a 2009 Bachelor of Science graduate of the SHTM, received the University of Houston's Alumni Award, recognising that she earned the highest grade-point average in her Master's programme.

Professor Haiyan Song, Dr Hanqin Zhang and Dr Nada Kulendran won the 2011 Thea Sinclair Award for Journal Article Excellence based on their paper "Measuring Returns on Hong Kong's Tourism Marketing Expenditure", published in Tourism Economics, 16(4), 853-865.

Professor Rob Law, Dr Ada Lo and Mr Joey Wu received a Best Paper Award for their paper entitled "A Study of Hospitality and Travel-Related Deals on Hong Kong Group-buying Websites" at the 19th International Conference on Information Technology and Travel & Tourism ENTER 2012 in Helsingborg, Sweden on 24-27 January 2012.

Ms Louisa Lee, a research student in the Master of Philosophy in Hotel and Tourism Management programme, has been awarded the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships 2011/12.
