What's new in Microsoft Teams

Some new features on MS Teams Meeting enhancing online teaching delivery and video conferencing (VC) meeting experience have been released:

 

1. Breakout rooms

 

Breakout rooms allow meeting organizer to create sub-meetings in virtual meeting rooms (up to 50) within a scheduled Teams meeting for small group discussion and collaboration.

2. New scenes of Together Mode

Together Mode in MS Teams brings people closer together in a shared background even they are physically apart from each other. A new set of Together Mode scenes is available including a coffee shop, conference room, classroom, and more.
To get started, select Together Mode from the drop-down menu when you are in MS Teams meeting, then click the small pencil in the left-hand corner of the screen to choose a scene (Together Mode requires at least five people in your meeting).

3. New custom backgrounds

A set of new holiday-themed custom backgrounds for standard meetings and video calls is available now. To add a new custom background, simply download the backgrounds you want (click here to download the holiday backgrounds ) before you join the meeting.

When setting up a meeting, select Background effects, click Add new, and then select a background to upload from your computer. More detailed guidance can be found here.
