Windows 10 will reach the end of support on 14 October 2025. After this date, neither further updates nor security patches will be available, which may make the system vulnerable to security risks. It is recommended to upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible.
Information on Windows 11 upgrade
The upgrading journey is straightforward and generally involves 3 key steps:
- Hardware/Application Compatibility Check
Ensure your PC meets the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11. Please consider PC replacement if it is not compatible. Additionally, assess user software compatibility. For software not compatible with Windows 11 OS, consider upgrading to the latest version/release with Windows 11 support or switching to compatible software with similar functions. - Backup Important Data
Backup important data to external/cloud storage, such as PolyU Home Drive or OneDrive, before upgrading. - Perform the Upgrade
The upgrading process can be in-place upgrade or migrate data to new machine pre-loaded with Win 11 OS image.
Users should start planning and upgrading to Windows 11 as soon as possible, especially for older computers that may not meet the necessary hardware specifications.

ITS has prepared the infrastructure on Windows Update/Software Centre for the Windows 11 upgrade and will provide technical support to facilitate the upgrade. - New purchased PC
