Use personal notebook in teaching venues

If instructors want to record what they shared with the class using their notebooks or conduct a hybrid class with students joining online, they can use their notebooks to join the VC session as a guest participant and use the Classroom PC to start the Cloud based VC Meeting as host to benefit from the visual / audio integration already pre-configured at teaching venues. ​

IT skills workshops for students in January

A series of workshops on IT skills for Future of Work and Research has been planned for January. Topics include machine learning, web scraping with Python, recommendation engine explications, video editing and Excel macro.

Archive Microsoft Teams course content

Aligning with LEARN@PolyU(理學網) course housekeeping schedule, all MS Teams course groups created on or before AC 2021/22 Semester 2 will be archived and removed from O365 student Connect Cloud on 30 January 2023.

Workshops for instructors on using Smart Panel built-in teaching PC for teaching delivery

Starting from Semester 2 of Academic Year 2022/23, teaching instructors conduct face-to-face / hybrid class in teaching venues with smart panel will be able to leverage keyboard and mouse on the teaching lectern to sign in the embedded teaching PC built-in smart-panel. Moreover, the display monitor on the teaching lectern can be served as a duplicate or extend screen of smart panel display.

Zoom meeting with new authenticated user option

Effective from 22 December 2022, instructors conduct face-to-face class delivery in teaching venues and use Zoom VC Cloud platform for lecture recording can have an additional access management option for setting up the VC meeting.

Form creation function will be disabled on PFS

As communicated in the last issue of eNewsletter, the "Create Form" function in the existing PFS will be disabled from 1 January 2023 to prepare for the next phase of transition from PFS to PFS 2.0.

New ‘Cloud Express II’ VPN for Mainland-based students

Effective from 23 November 2022, a new VPN service called ‘Cloud Express II’ has been made available to all Mainland-based students for continuing the provision of smooth connection to LEARN@PolyU. The existing ‘Cloud Express’ VPN service will retire at 23:59 on 14 December 2022, students based in Mainland cities are encouraged to switch the VPN service to ‘Cloud Express II’ as soon as possible.
