Seminar Series #7: What's Cadastral Surveying? Can Al Help Tackle Its Challenges?

"A Cadastre is normally a parcel based, and up-to-date land information system containing a record of interests in land (e.g. rights, restrictions and responsibilities). It usually includes a geometric description of land parcels linked to other records describing the nature of the interests, the ownership or control of those interests, and often the value of the parcel and its improvements" [1]. “地籍是指一個國家記載土地基本狀況的簿冊。其內容一般包括土地的位置、界址、權屬、質量、數量和用途
等,有時還包括土地等級、地價及有關文件、數據和圖件。..... 孟子滕文公篇有曰:「仁政必自經界始」,又曰「經界正則庶民興」,由此可知地籍釐整之重要性。地政為庶政之母,地籍之正確性影響人民權益甚鉅,亦為政府各項施政之基礎依據所在。”[2].

This seminar presentation would provide a historical background of cadastral survey in Hong Kong,
the difficulties encountered, the current status in the operation of the Land Survey Ordinance
(Cap.473), and potential integrated developments in the lands and works industries. What can Al help
tackle the challenges?
