Working at a motor service company, I find these qualities important to make a fresh graduate competent in the field:
be able to handle a project individually
have self-motivation to identify the needs of each project and follow them up actively
be able to comprehend project tenders
have communiaction skills to be able to facilitate and participate in meetings with gorvernmental departments such as Electrical and Mechanical Serviecs Department and present the project progress to clients
Mr Edward Mok
2002 graduate
Department of Rehabilitation Sciences
To serve in the field of occupational therapy (OT), I believe that a fresh graduate should:
be a responsible and humble person
be willing to learn; since the things learnt at university are not enough, one has to keep learning new knowledge and skills at work in order to provide better therapy to the clients
be active, as everyone in the field is busy and no one will coach you actively
take advanced courses and keep studying; one may consider taking courses in other fields to widen his/her horizon
To better equip oneself as an occupational therapist, the current students should explain more by:
participating in community service to know more about the role of OT plays in the community
visitng some relevant websites to know more about the kind of services that OT is providing to the community
Mr Lam Chi Wai
2005 graduate
Department of Management & Marketing
From my working experience in the field of banking, employees and graduates are expected to equip themselves with:
a positive attitude; employers prefer candidates who are eager to learn, optimistic and have a passion for his/her job
competent language abilities, especially in Putonghua
communication skills; in order to deliver all messages accurately to the clients, since any misunderstanding may lead to serious complaints or problems
Ms Fung Wing Man
2003 graduate
Institute of Textiles & Clothing
Working in the field of fashion design, I believe that employees and fresh graduates should possess the following qualities:
apply basic knowledge of garment manufacturing, e.g., be able to consider the constraints of the manufacturing process whtn designing a garment
be able to apply certain computer applications, as most graphics tend to rely on the use of computers in the industry
have asharp fashion sense; be fully aware of the upcoming fashion trends
My advice to current fashion design students is that they must:
see and explore more, not just the fashion field, but also in other fields such as interior design or the film industry
