PolyU researchers and academic-led startup teams participated for the first time in the HICOOL 2024 Global Entrepreneur Summit and Entrepreneurship Competition, held in Beijing, 23–25 August 2024. Two innovations in quantum technology and biomedical engineering led by PAIR researchers won prizes in the entrepreneurship competition.

The two award-winning projects are “Quantum Chip-based Key Distribution System”, led by Prof. LIU Ai-Qun, Director of the Research Institute for Quantum Technology (RIQT) and Chair Professor of Quantum Engineering and Science; and Scolioscan®, the world’s first radiation-free 3D ultrasound scoliosis assessment system, developed by Prof. ZHENG Yongping, Director of the Research Institute for Smart Ageing (RISA) and Henry G. Leong Professor in Biomedical Engineering, and his team.
