International Conference on Intelligent Wearable Systems 2022 held successfully

International Conference on Intelligent Wearable Systems 2022 (ICIWS 2022), a three-day conference, was successfully completed on Jun 29, 2022. The conference was organized by the Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems (RI-IWEAR) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).

PAIR Successfully Hosts Its Second Distinguished Lecture Series by Professor David Cardwell of University of Cambridge

The PAIR Distinguished Lecture Series was successfully held on 17 May 2022. We were honoured to have renowned scholar, Prof. David Cardwell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Strategy and Planning), University of Cambridge, UK, as the invited speaker. The webinar was hosted by Prof. Christopher Chao, Vice President (Research and Innovation) and Chair Professor of Thermal and Environmental Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). RCSV-SO Joint Distinguished Lecture - “How the Baby Learns to See: Critical Periods Re-visited” was held on 20 April 2022. We were excited to see around 280 optometrists, practitioners, academic staff and students from 14 countries and regions participated in the lecture.

RI-IWEAR held the "Adoption of Wearable Sensors in Construction Research" webinar successfully on 16 March. Introduced by Ir Prof. Li Heng, Core Member of RI-IWEAR, Dr JoonOh Seo, Associate Professor of Department of Building and Real Estate at PolyU, Dr Yantao Yu, Assistant Professor of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at HKUST and Dr Xiaowei Luo, Associate Professor of Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at CityU shared their views on various applications of IWEAR sensors for the construction industry.

Webinar on Urban Informatics successfully concluded

The Webinar on Urban Informatics was successfully held online on 7 March 2022, attracting over 175,000 audience from Zoom as well as YouTube and Bilibili live-streaming. The webinar was jointly organized by the PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR), the Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Smart Cities Research Institute (SCRI), and the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; the International Society for Urban Informatics (ISUI); and the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS).
