Speaker

Professor Qunming Wang

Summary

Optical remote sensing data suffer from various degrees of fine spatial resolution information loss in spatial, temporal and spectral domains, which is difficult to meet the requirement of precise monitoring at regional scale. The speaker will introduce his achievements on integrating spatio-temporal-spectral information for data reconstruction. Furthermore, the applications of the reconstruction methods to some topics will also be introduced, including quality improvement of surface soil moisture and land surface temperature products, global mapping of key elements related to carbon cycle, etc..

Professor Qunming Wang

College of Surveying and Geo-Informatics, Tongji University, China

Qunming Wang received the Ph.D. degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 2015. He is currently a Professor with the College of Surveying and Geo-Informatics, Tongji University, Shanghai, China. He was a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) with Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, Lancaster, U.K., from 2017 to 2018, where he is currently a Visiting Professor. His 3-year Ph.D. study was supported by the hypercompetitive Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship and his Ph.D. thesis was awarded as the Outstanding Thesis in the Faculty. He has authored or coauthored 90 peer-reviewed articles in international journals such as Remote Sensing of Environment, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, and ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. His research interests include remote sensing, image processing, and geostatistics. He is the PI of 1 NSFC Outstanding Youth Foundation Program, 2 NSFC General Programs, and some other national programs. He is an Editorial Board member of Remote Sensing of Environment and Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science, and serves as Associate Editor for Science of Remote Sensing (sister journal of Remote Sensing of Environment) and Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing. He was Associate Editor for Computers and Geosciences (2017−2020).
