Turning Macau into a smart city for tourism
PolyU and Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau revealed plans to jointly conduct a spatial big data analytics study on the needs and preferences of tourists in Macau, leveraging the research expertise of PolyU’s Laboratory for Smart City and Spatial Big Data Analytics. The project aims to optimise the Wi-Fi facilities in Macau, and develop data-mining algorithm/tools to analyse the tourist activities and behavioural patterns in the city. These will not only help improve Macau’s urban planning and tourism management as well as enhance tourists’ experience, but also serve as a test bed for the development of smart cities in the Greater Bay Area.
