Prof. Li Qing elected as a prestigious 2022 Fellow of IEEE
Professor Li Qing, Chair Professor of Data Science and Head of the Department of Computing at PolyU, was named 2022 Fellow of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) “for his contributions to machine learning in multimedia, data mining and data warehousing”.
Being elected as an IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for those with extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The Institute, with over 400,000 members around the world, is a leading professional body for advancing technology from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics.
Professor Li joined PolyU in 2018 as Head of the Department of Computing. His research interests include multi-modal data management, data warehousing and mining, social media and web services, and e-learning technologies.
Professor Li is also a Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET/IEE), and is currently the chairperson of the Hong Kong Web Society. He has been actively involved in the research community by serving as an associate editor and reviewer for technical journals, and has organised numerous international conferences.
