PolyU’s Professor Weng Qihao, Chair Professor of Geomatics and Artificial Intelligence of the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, has been elected as an esteemed Foreign Member of the Academy of Europe (Academia Europaea) in the 2021 class for his significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of remote sensing, GIScience, urban climatology, urban ecology, sustainability science, and geospatial AI.

 

Joining PolyU in July 2021, Prof. Weng was awarded the HKSAR Government’s Global STEM Professorship. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), and Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA).

 

Prof. Weng is currently the Lead of the Global Urban Observation and Information Initiative under the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observation (GEO), and a trustee of the ISPRS Foundation.
