PolyU will collaborate with JS Global Lifestyle Company Limited (JS Global) to promote an in-depth integration of industry, academia and research institutions, as well as to facilitate innovation and technology (I&T) development in Hong Kong. 

Leveraging the strengths of PolyU in applied research and JS Global’s leading position in the small household appliance market, both parties will help foster the transformation of research excellence into real-world applications. 

“PolyU is pleased to strengthen its collaboration with JS Global in the key areas of ultra-precision machining technology, advanced manufacturing and health science,” said Dr Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President of PolyU. “Combining PolyU’s strength in these disciplines and JS Global’s experience in R&D and market development, we will join hands to deepen the integration of research outcomes and commercialisation, and explore more innovative solutions to promote the I&T industry.” 

Ms Han Run, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of JS Global, said the partnership will help to deepen interaction and the exchange of ideas between the two parties to facilitate nurturing scientific research talents.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in December 2022, PolyU and JS Global will collaborate in three major areas, namely “Aerospace Technology and its Applications”, “Future Food” and “Smart Living”.  Both parties will jointly engage in research and development, and nurture talents to inject new momentum into the I&T industry. 

The partnership will also explore the feasibility of establishing the “PolyU-JS Global Innovation Centre” and the “PolyU-JS Global Scholarship Programme” to nurture I&T talents by offering scholarships and internships opportunities, aiming to enhance the quality of talent in the I&T ecosystem in the Greater Bay Area.
