The PolyU Policy Research Centre for Innovation and Technology (PReCIT) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sing Tao News Corporation Ltd (Sing Tao) to take forward the promotion and application of the concept of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles and related research commercialisation.

 

Dr Cai Jin, CEO of Sing Tao and PReCIT Advisory Committee Member, said the public could benefit from a heightened level of ESG awareness through the new collaboration, which integrates ESG policy research recommendations.

 

Prof. Christopher Chao, PolyU Vice President (Research and Innovation) and Director of PReCIT, emphasised the benefits of establishing a transparent ESG platform in Hong Kong, including enhancing investor confidence, improving corporate risk management and facilitating access to capital.

 

On the same occasion, Sing Tao, PReCIT, the PolyU School of Accounting and Finance (AF), and the AF Center for Economic Sustainability and Entrepreneurial Finance co-organised an ESG seminar. Dr Zeng Cheng and Dr Xiang Yi, Associate Professor and Research Assistant Professor of AF, shared their insights into the development of ESG disclosure in Hong Kong.
