PolyU leads the way with the most fellows under 2024 Hong Kong Scholars Program
PolyU has once again proven its appeal to the brightest minds in academic research, securing the highest number of postdoctoral fellows under the Hong Kong Scholars Program for the 14th consecutive year. This achievement cements the University’s status as a leading destination for aspiring researchers and a driving force in Hong Kong’s academic landscape.
Since the programme’s inception in 2011, PolyU has consistently outpaced other local universities in attracting top talent. This year, the University has welcomed 20 exceptional postdoctoral fellows, selected from a pool of 60 candidates hailing from leading Mainland universities. These fellows will be matched with 20 PolyU academics, fostering a dynamic environment for collaborative research and innovation.
Diverse research opportunities
The 2024 cohort of postdoctoral fellows will be immersed in a diverse array of cutting-edge research fields. They will spend two years pushing the boundaries of knowledge under the guidance of PolyU’s academics. Their research will span various disciplines, including materials science, advanced manufacturing, information technology, computational science, biomedical science, electrical engineering, environmental science, basic research and business management.
This initiative, jointly spearheaded by the Society of Hong Kong Scholars and the China National Postdoctoral Council, aims to bridge the gap between the Hong Kong and Mainland talent pools. By consolidating resources and expertise, the programme seeks to cultivate a new generation of researchers poised to tackle pressing global challenges. The success of this endeavour is underpinned by the calibre of PolyU’s supervisory team. Selected Hong Kong supervisors are required to have experience in major research projects, operate at an advanced international level, have access to state-of-the-art research facilities, lead high-quality research teams and so on.
