Resilience assessment and optimisation of the air traffic network

Air traffic continues to gain focus and grow rapidly to meet the demand for social development. Meanwhile, the risk of uncertain disruptive events must be addressed to ensure stable air traffic operations under increasingly busy conditions. The development of the theory of complex networks and resilience provides a more practical and accurate description and assessment tools for studying air traffic and helps perform more effective system optimisation. However, the current researches mainly investigate static and planar air traffic networks, and the use of the resilience concept is still incomplete. This research proposal intends to construct a more accurate network model by considering the temporal and structural characteristics of the air traffic network, meanwhile combining the processes of damage and recovery of the network under shocks to assess the resilience of the air traffic network completely. The above outcomes will help optimise the air traffic network's response strategies and network design in the face of disruption events
