Biography
Prof. Lei SUN is a Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He obtained the bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering and Information Science from the University of Science and Technology of China, Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and PhD degree in Bioengineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
Prof. Sun has 20 years of research and development experience in medical ultrasound technology including system development, signal/image processing and biomedical applications. His works have been published in top-tier journals such as Nature Communications and npj Regenerative Medicine. As a principal investigator, he has been supported by multiple research projects with a total budget over HKD$38 million including Research Grants Council General Research Fund (GRF), Innovation Technology Fund (ITF), Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF) and National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC). He also participated in Research Grants Council Research Impact Fund (RIF) and the 973 project of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Prof. Sun is a member of the Institute of Medical Ultrasound Engineering of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Instrument and Equipment Development Committee of the Chinese Society of Ultrasound and Engineering respectively.
