Biography

Prof. Tanya TAN Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Building and Real Estate, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She received her Master of Science in Sustainable and Environmental Design (Distinction) and Ph.D. in Architecture from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2010 and 2016 respectively. She had been a Research Fellow in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Institute of Future Cities, CUHK. Then, she joined the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department at Hautes Études d'Ingénieur, Université Catholique de Lille for teaching and research.

Prof. Tan focuses on the expertise areas of sustainable urban planning and design, urban climate, built environments and healthy ageing. She has publications themed on designing urban green spaces for older adults in Hong Kong and Asian cities on journals including Urban Forestry & Urban Greening and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Besides, as a Co-Investigator, she received a competitive grant of HK$34,604,000 with the project "Healthy and Resilient City with Pervasive LoCHs" from the Theme-based Research Scheme, University Grants Committee. By joining RISA, Prof. Tan strives to establish interdisciplinary research network and foster research impacts.
