Biography

Prof. Justina LIU is the Associate Head (Education) and a Professor at the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is also a Registered Nurse. 

Prof. Liu has made significant contributions to the academic field particularity on gerontechnology. In her research projects, she applied virtual reality, wearable sensors, e-health, and artificial intelligence (AI) to implement exercises, nutritional advices and psycho-behavioral interventions, aiming to facilitate physical activity levels and social participation of senior citizens with frailty. Beyond her research, Prof. Liu employs innovative approaches by incorporating virtual reality in nurse education and the development of virtual hospitals, which revolutionizes and enriches to the nursing community. Her innovations and research expertise have been internationally recognized, including the induction of the Sigma Nursing 2024 International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame and the receipt of the Asia Gold award in the QS Reimagine Education Regional Awards. 

Drawing on her expertise in gerontology and nursing education, Prof. Liu strives to promoting the well-being and quality of life of older adults and their caregivers, transforming the healthcare for the ageing population in both local and global contexts.
