辛美琪博士於中山大學(廣州)取得醫學學士學位(預防醫學專業),其後於香港中文大學賽馬會公共衛生及基層醫療學院取得博士學位(公共衛生專業)並接受博士後培訓。
作爲一名行爲科學研究者,辛博士致力於應用行爲醫學的前沿理論及方法學,在基層醫療健康範疇内來制定有效且可擴展性高的干預項目。她的主要研究領域包括健康行為及健康促進、健康傳播、健康心理和流行病學。她尤其感興趣樂齡健康相關的研究題目,包括社區環境下針對長者及其照顧者的健康促進研究。她最主要的研究方向是利用勸服性傳播策略以克服大眾對健康信息的抗拒心理,從而促進其健康行為改變。她的博士課題為一項由優配研究金資助的隨機對照試驗。她設計、實施並評估了一項利用敘事勸服以促進HIV預防行為的網絡干預。最近,她以首席研究員身份獲得另一項優配研究金資助。此研究旨在制定一項智能手機為媒介的敘事勸服干預,以促進社區長者的流感疫苗接種行爲。除了干預研究,她亦擅長通過設計問卷調查研究,以探究健康或疾病行爲相關且可調節的社會心理影響因素。她主要的研究工作是探究社區人士如何感知並應對疾病或健康威脅。
