Weng Yiting is an occupational therapist, interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) therapist and psychological consultant. She obtained her BSc (Hons) in Rehabilitation Therapy from Harbin Medical University in mainland China and her Master in Occupational Therapy (China) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She had worked as a rehabilitation therapist in a hospital for two years and then as an assistant supervisor in an international model of comprehensive adult psychiatric rehabilitation community for 1.5 years. She has years of extensive clinical experience in the area of psychiatry. Her reasons for choosing to study at RS, PolyU, are that RS has a team of professional teachers and researchers, and can provide advanced research techniques and a good research environment. Yiting is now studying for a PhD under Prof. Hector Tsang’s supervision, and her research topic is the “Cognitive, social and vocational functioning of young adults at familial risk for psychosis (FRP) and with early psychosis (EP)”. The significance of this research is that on the one hand, it will help to develop a new intervention for improving the social and occupational functioning of those at familial risk for psychosis, and on the other hand, it can prevent these people from developing psychosis despite their familial risk.
