Ms Kanis Chu

Service-Learning Manager (Project Development)

Profile

Kanis joined the Service-Learning and Leadership Office in September 2023. She is responsible for developing offshore Service-Learning projects, coordinating students and faculty staff, and building partnerships with the community.

As a Sociology and Social Work graduate, Kanis is passionate about working with youth, exploring cultural diversity, and establishing connections with various parties in the local and overseas communities. Being a registered social worker, she has started her journey with young people in local NGOs, specializing in youth leadership training, volunteering, and youth mental health projects. After she obtained her Master's degree from Hong Kong Baptist University, she worked as an experienced student affairs practitioner in the tertiary education sector for years before joining the office at PolyU.

Kanis believes that service learning brings students a valuable and memorable life-changing journey. Despite their age groups and academic disciplines, students will be able to deepen their self-understanding and reflection and build up new skills and perspectives while serving the community. The service-learning experience will be an influential event that positively impacts the students' adulthood.
