Programme Characteristics
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, ranked 65th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2024, offers a specialisation in intelligent wearable technology for local, national, and international students to enrol in a project-based or course-based MSc programme.
Wearable technology is one of the fastest growing fields in the world and is seamlessly compatible with the emerging trends in artificial intelligence, the metaverse, the Internet of Things, assistive robotics, health-care monitoring, new advanced materials, and smart fashion and textiles. This programme is an unparalleled opportunity to attend a world-leading school in wearable technology that has 14 faculty members recognised as ranking in Stanford University’s Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide. The Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems and the Research Centre of Textiles for Future Fashion have been established to facilitate interdisciplinary research, technology transfer, and collaboration with top institutions.
As the first postgraduate degree in wearable technology in China, this programme provides an immersive problem-solving and critical-thinking education for students holding a Bachelor's degree or above in fashion and textiles, materials science and engineering, artificial intelligence, electronics, computer science, chemical engineering, communications engineering, physics, design, business, or other related disciplines.

A Bachelor’s degree or above in any following disciplines: Fashion and Textiles, Materials Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, Design, Business, or other related disciplines.
If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the University’s minimum English language requirement for admission purpose. Please refer to the “Admission Requirements” section for details.
