Transfer Story of Asma Ali
Hi guys! I am Asma, a final year student majoring in Social Policy and Administration. I would like to share some learning experiences and achievements that helped build a solid foundation for my whole-person development throughout the process of being a transfer student.
I have always been keen on balancing my academic and extra-curricular exposure, as being an all-rounded person can help me reinforce my knowledge into practice. I still remember taking 7 courses in my first semester which was indeed too much workload, but thanks to my prior exposure to the fast-paced lectures in the associate degree which has well-equipped me with effective note-taking and study skills. With that dedication, I am grateful that all of my hard work has paid off with first-class honours attainment and a Juris Doctor offer from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, commencing in September 2020.
Moreover, I believe volunteering gives us the opportunity to make a difference in society and at the same time develop empathy and new skills. At PolyU, the most memorable experience was undertaking Service-learning and organizing tailor-made activities to serve children and families with special needs in Vietnam. Besides, I enjoy the process of being an active volunteer at a local NGO in my district. With that, I am delighted to receive a Silver Award from the Social Welfare Department for contributing over 100 hours of community service in 2019.
I am thankful to the SYA project for appointing me as a student ambassador and selecting me to attend an experiential trip to Toronto and Los Angeles, which was a golden opportunity for me to explore the overseas credit-transfer system and to devise new ways of leveraging the resources for the benefit of SYA students.
If you wish to gain more exposure, the SYA community is there for you! Join us and let’s bolster transfer pride around the campus! You can also be the future transfer champion!
