"吗" is a particle commonly used in Mandarin yes-no questions. By simply adding "吗" to the end of a declarative sentence, you can transform it into a yes-no question. 

Here are some examples illustrating how to use "" to form yes-no questions.

Yes-no questions with "吗" are very common in Mandarin, unlike Cantonese, where verb-not-verb questions are more common, as shown below.

The word "也" means the same as other people or other situations, emphasizing the same characteristics or actions. In a Cantonese sentence containing "dou1 都" (also; too), if the subject is singular, the "都" in the sentence will correspond to the "也" in Mandarin in most cases. See the table below:
