Dr. Elaine Kwong
Dr. Elaine Kwong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was professionally trained to be a speech therapist, and specializes in managing adult and pediatric voice disorders. Given her background as a clinician, her research interest concerns closely about different therapeutic and preventive approaches for voice disorders. They include Complementary and Alterantive Medicines like acupuncture and traditionally used techniques like semi-occluded vocal tract exercises. Dr. Kwong is also interested in studying the mechanisms and physiology of phonation. In the recent years, she had extended her research interests to swallowing. She is particularly interested in the application of ultrasound imaging to the examination and rehabilitation of dysphagia, and standardization of a diet modification framework for dysphagic patients. |
