Ms. Cora Ling, Assistant Professor of Practice

Ms. Cora Ling is currently an Assistant Professor of Practice of the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences and Master of Medical Sciences from The University of Hong Kong. She later obtained her Master of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University, where she received the William H. Earles award for her academic achievements and accomplishments. She is qualified as a speech therapist in Hong Kong and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) in the United States.

 

Ms. Ling has extensive experience working in medical settings. She practiced as a speech therapist at the Hospital Authority for ten years, serving adult and pediatric patients with dysphagia, feeding issues, neurological communication disorder and voice disorder. Ms. Ling later completed a fellowship year with the University of Wisconsin Madison, specializing in pediatric voice, feeding, swallowing and craniofacial anomalies. Prior to joining PolyU, Ms. Ling had served as clinical educator for PolyU and other local speech therapy programmes. Ms. Ling currently focuses on clinical speech therapy education, supervising student speech therapists’ clinical practicum.

 

Ms. Ling is passionate about contributing to the community using her professional knowledge. She worked as a pro bono speech therapist for a social enterprise serving children with language and speech disorders from grassroot families. She has also supported training of rehabilitation practitioners in mainland China.

 

Ms. Ling is a Member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a Full Member of The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists. She is a certified provider of VitalStim Therapy and Ampcare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol. She is also trained in using LMRVT Therapy, Adventure in Voice, Voicecraft, Estill Voice Training, Lee-Silverman Voice Treatment, SPEAK OUT! and PROMPT therapy.

 

Ms. Ling is fluent in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin.
