Mr. Alex Ho, Assistant Professor of Practice

Mr. Alex Ho is currently Assistant Professor of Practice of the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from The University of Hong Kong and qualified as a speech therapist. He later received his Master of Science in Rehabilitation of People with Developmental Disabilities from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with Distinction.

 

Mr. Ho commenced his professional speech therapy practice at a special school to provide speech therapy service for students with mild intellectual disability. He later joined a private audiology and speech therapy practice to offer speech therapy to clients with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders across different age groups. He is known for his extensive experience in service settings in Hong Kong and Macau, including clinics, private hospitals, old age homes, geriatric day care centres, sheltered workshops, primary schools, and secondary schools. He had served as honorary clinical supervisor for student speech therapists’ clinical practicum prior to joining PolyU.

 

Mr. Ho is a Full Member of The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists and a Speech Therapist in Accredited Register. He had also served as a Member of the Professional Council of the Hong Kong Institute of Speech Therapists. Mr. Ho is a certified provider of Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation, VitalStim Therapy, The Biber Protocol Therapy, LMRVT Therapy, CSCFT Therapy, Estill Voice Training, Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention, and Oral Placement Therapy (Level 1 & 2).

 

Mr. Ho is fluent in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin.
