Biography
Prof. Andy Chun is a renowned AI visionary and innovator with over 30 years of experience leading technological advancements across various industries. As a preeminent AI expert in Hong Kong, he has developed ground-breaking AI solutions that have substantially improved the city's social services, quality of life, and economic development, impacting millions daily.
At the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Prof. Chun holds the title of Professor of Practice in Digital Innovation and Emerging Technologies, imparting his extensive knowledge of AI and advanced technologies to foster strategic innovation.
In his previous role as Regional Director of Technology Innovation at Prudential plc, he pioneered adopting cutting-edge technologies to enhance customer well-being and financial success. His career also includes CEO tenures at innovative AI tech start-ups, and he has served in a dual capacity as a Computer Science professor and the CIO at the City University of Hong Kong. Additionally, he contributes as an Adjunct Professor to the Executive MBA program at the university's College of Business.
Prof. Chun's commitment to community service is evident in his role as a senior advisor to the HKSAR Government, guiding AI and IT strategies. He also lends his expertise as an advisor to the AI Specialist Group of the Hong Kong Computer Society, where he has previously held the position of Vice-President. His exceptional contributions to the technology sector have earned him the prestigious Distinguished Fellow award from the society.
His accolades include being named Hong Kong's top CIO, ranking among the top five CIOs in Greater China, and being recognized as a global top 100 IT leader. Prof. Chun's work has garnered numerous awards, such as HKICTA, APICTA, and AAAI's AI awards. He holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has completed a CIO MBA program at Boston University.
