Realink founder donates to support alma mater Serving the needy in HK and our motherland President celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival with non-local students Design students and alumni experiment upcycling
| 1. Chief Executive commends Sichuan rehab team Supported by the Hong Kong Red Cross, the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences has established a Prosthetic and Rehabilitation Centre in Deyang, Sichuan, after the 512 Earthquake. During the past two years, the Centre’s physiotherapists, occupational therapists and prosthetists have not only been serving over 1,200 injured victims, but also training Sichuan rehab practitioners in disaster management. Recently, HKSAR Chief Executive Mr Donald Tsang visited the Centre and commended the service of its professional team. 2. Students practise skills while helping mainland orphans Sponsored by the Goodrock Foundation, eight physiotherapy and occupational therapy students of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences travelled to Xinjiang this summer to provide volunteer service in two orphanages. The students provided training for the orphanage staff and designed games and exercises for the orphans with visual impairment, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability and autism. The students have put classroom knowledge into practice while gaining valuable experience. 3. Business students apply knowledge in community service PolyU Faculty of Business has recently launched a community service project, FB CARES, for over 140 students to work with non-profit organizations by applying their knowledge and skills in serving children, youth and the elderly.
