Research team led by Dr K.H. Loo and Prof. Michael Tse won the Gold Medal with Jury's Congratulations and the IFIA Best Innovation Medal in the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2019

We are glad to share that the research team led by Dr K.H. Loo and Prof. Michael Tse won the Gold Medal with Jury's Congratulations and the IFIA Best Innovation Medal in the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2019, USA, for the project "Smart Indoor Farming System"!

The President's Awards for Outstanding Performance/Achievement

We are so thrilled to learn that the Department was awarded the “Highest Growth Department Award” for 2018 in the category of Departmental Awards at PolyU Technology & Consultancy Company Limited’s (PTeC’s) Outstanding Professional Services Awards. The granting of this “Highest Growth Department Award – merit award (cash prize of $10,000)” is for the highest ranking department in terms of the 1) absolute growth amount in invoiced value and 2) percentage of growth compared to previous fiscal year.

The Outstanding Students Award Scheme – Outstanding Student Award 2018

Congratulations to WEI Heng, our EE awardee of the Outstanding Students Award Scheme! The Outstanding Students Award Scheme aims to recognize the achievements of full-time final-year students who excel in both academic and non-academic pursuits during their studies. This Award Scheme is one of the most prestigious award schemes in PolyU. We are glad to see that Faculty Dean, Department Head and WEI’s family members and friends are all joining to share his joy in this ceremony.

Engineering Club ranked 5th in 2018 International MATE ROV Competition

The 2018 International MATE ROV Competition was held in the State of Washington State, USA. 65 teams from around the world participated in the event competing for the championships in the Explorer Class ROV and Ranger Class ROV. Twelve students from EE participated in the Explorer Class competition and it is the third time that our team took part in the international competition. With the support from other Engineering Club members and months of hard work, a new ROV was successfully developed. The new ROV includes 8 thrusters, multiple cameras, robotic arm, airbag releasing system and control software.   The 3-day competition took place in the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center from 21 to 23 June, 2018. Each team must present their design to a panel of judges, submit a technical report and demonstrate their ROVs by carrying a sequence of tasks. The EE team was ranked 5th in the final score. We would like to congratulate the team and all its members in achieving such good results. The Department also want to express our gratitude to HongKong Airlines for sponsoring students’ air tickets.

Congratulations to Mr. Xu Xu, our research postgraduate student!

We are pleased to inform that Mr. Xu Xu, under the supervision of Professor Xu Zhao, won the Best Student Paper Award in the IEEE PES ISGT ASIA 2018 on Smart Grid Technologies for Smart Nations.  This international conference is one of the IEEE PES flagship conference, held during 22-25 May in Singapore. Congratulations to our Engineering Club team !!
