PolyU Business School records new heights in research performance in different rankings

PolyU is ranked 4th in the world for Business and Management and 1st in the university rankings for China, with a total D-index score of 864, a mean h-index score of 61.71, 14 scholars in the Business and Management discipline, and 4,023 publications.

The rankings are based on a detailed examination of 166,880 researcher profiles from a consolidated set of bibliometric data sources including OpenAlex and Crossref on 21 December 2022. For the Business and Management discipline, over 7,819 profiles and scientists from more than 554 institutions and affiliations were analysed. Marketing Professor Yuwei Jiang is ranked among Top 50 Most Productive Marketing Scholars in the World by American Marketing Association (AMA) for the second time

Professor Yuwei Jiang, Professor of Marketing in the Department of Management and Marketing, has been recognised for the second time as one of the Top 50 Most Productive Marketing Scholars in the World. According to the American Marketing Association DocSIG Research Productivity Report, Prof. Jiang now ranks 22nd, a significant increase from his previous position of 42nd last year. He now holds the top spot in Asia.

Prof. Jiang’s achievement is based on the number of times his research has been published in the premier marketing journals: Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Marketing Science, in the ten-year period from 2013 to 2022, as calculated by the American Marketing Association. This recognition is widely regarded as the most prestigious acknowledgement of research productivity that a marketing scholar can receive.

Poets&Quants’ Top 50 Undergraduate Professors of 2022

Dr Arnaud Cudennec, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing, has been recognised as one of the Top 50 Undergraduate Professors of 2022 by Poets&Quants (P&Q).

P&Q evaluated more than 500 undergraduate professors based on their research and teaching accolades. The final score was calculated with 30% weight on research and 70% weight on teaching. Research accolades were determined by the volume of a professor’s Google Scholar citations, major media attention, and research and writing awards. Teaching accolades were determined by nominations, teaching awards, and impact on their schools and departments.

 

 

LMS students receive CIPS Awards

Three BBA (Hons) students in the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies (LMS) have been recognised under the Best Student Award Scheme of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Hong Kong Branch. Ms Jiang Ruixuan and Ms Lee Yan-ching received the Good Performer Award, while Ms Chan Yung-ting received the Certificate of Merit. All three are studying Global Supply Chain Management.

Two AF graduates receive CPA Australia Distinction Award

Ms Yu Sze Man, Sherry, a graduate of the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Accountancy, and Mr Cheung Wan Fung, Eddie, a graduate of the Master of Professional Accounting, have won the 2021/2022 cohort CPA Australia Distinction Award.

The CPA Australia Distinction Award is an annual scholarship that recognises top graduates from local undergraduate and master programmes. This year, our winners demonstrated their exceptional academic intelligence and their commitment to pursuing a career as Chartered Public Accountants (CPAs).

 

 

BBA students secure Third Place and Honourable Mention in I.C.B.C.

Two BBA (Hons) students from the School of Accounting and Finance have been recognised at the the 45th Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (I.C.B.C.). Ms Hung Man Sze, Kelly secured third place in the final of the Marketing event, while Mr Lee Gun, Jacob also received an Honourable Mention for his performance in the Debating event.

The I.C.B.C. is a prestigious international business case competition, and the largest undergraduate case competition in Canada. Hosted by the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, it is open to participants from universities across the world and consists of eight streams and two rounds. The finals are held each year in January.

My “BM” Story Video Competition

The Master of Science in Business Management (BM) programme recently organised a video competition called ‘My “BM” Story’ for current BM students and alumni to showcase their learning experiences, campus life and extracurricular activities during the programme. The videos expressed students’ enthusiasm for the programme and their connections with teachers and classmates from diverse backgrounds. The creators of the most unique and engaging videos representing BM life were awarded prizes at a presentation ceremony on 30 March 2023. The winning video received over 800 ‘likes’ across social media platforms. The video competition was an excellent way to promote the positive learning environment of the BM programme.

 

 

Knowledge Transfer Forum Discusses Greening of Aviation in China and Asia

The Faculty and its Shipping Research Centre recently hosted a knowledge transfer forum on “Policy lessons for the greening of aviation in China and Asia”. The forum brought together experts to discuss environmental policies from the perspectives of airlines, fuel producers and economic policy.

The virtual forum, which took place on 1 March, featured four speakers from the University of International Business and Economics, the University of North Carolina, Sasol ecoFT, and Cathay Pacific Airways, followed by a panel discussion.

This is the tenth in a series of forums organised by the Centre to promote best practices and strengthen the theoretical base of decision-making in aviation, shipping and logistics. The forums also encourage industry to leverage research studies to work towards a greener future for the aviation industry.
