Events
The Department of English and Communication (ENGL) hosted the "Sky-High Dialogues" career talks on 3 December, attracting over 60 students from various departments at PolyU. The event featured industry experts from the International Civil Aviation English Association (ICAEA), Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO), and staff from PolyU’s Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering (AAE) who shared insights on aviation career opportunities in Hong Kong.
The talks covered diverse career paths, including pilots, cabin crew inventory control, procurement, and technical services engineering. Speakers shared personal experiences as industry professionals, such as responsibilities and qualifications as engineers and pilots. They encouraged students to build relationships with professionals in their desired field and seek mentorship and guidance.
The discussion also touched on opportunities for graduate trainees in the Hong Kong aviation industry. Industry experts highlighted the various graduate programs available, including those offered by airlines, airports, and aviation companies.
"The talks offered valuable insights into potential careers in the aviation industry here in Hong Kong and globally," said Prof. Eric Friginal, Head of ENGL. The event marked a significant step towards connecting industry demands with academic preparation, and ENGL looks forward to hosting more events that foster collaboration between industry experts and students.
