Evolving with the Times, Elegant Writing Through Distance: PolyU Chinese Language Centre 25th Anniversary Public Lecture Series

Events

Since our establishment in 1998, the Chinese Language Centre has been dedicated to providing effective language services for PolyU students, actively promoting language teaching and research for tertiary and non-Chinese-speaking students. This year marks the centre's 25th anniversary, celebrated with a series of public lectures titled "Evolving with the times, elegant writing through distance: PolyU Chinese Language Centre 25th Anniversary Public Lecture Series".

The series has featured seven lectures on topics such as classical literature, modern literature, popular culture, applied language teaching, teaching Chinese as a foreign language, intellectual history, and Hong Kong literature. Esteemed professors and young scholars from prestigious institutions, including UCLA, the University of Oxford, Osaka University, and The University of Hong Kong, shared their research findings. The series of lecture received enthusiastic responses, attracting over 700 registrations and 480 participants, including teachers and students from local tertiary and secondary schools, as well as online guests from around the world, significantly enhancing the CLC's reputation in academia.
