Events
La Bohème is part of a larger programme of opera awareness developed together with Dr Warren Mok, Honorary Professor in ENGL, for the PolyU community.
The Department of English and Communication (ENGL) hosted a successful public talk titled "Hip-Hopera: Opera’s Greatest Hits & Pop Culture" on 31 October, attracting more than 150 registrants. Renowned opera director Peter Gordon explored the connections between classic opera and modern pop culture, promoting the upcoming ENGL performance of Puccini’s “La Bohème” on 28 November. The opera "La Bohème" was a great hit, with more than 500 registrations for 200 seats, showcasing the community's enthusiasm for the performing arts and creating opportunities for future engagement. The opera engaged some of PolyU's students who helped translate subtitles, among other things.
